ADAM SKOUMAL, CHOPIN, RACHMANINOV

"On his debut album, Jan Čmejla presents selected works by the renowned Czech pianist and composer Adam Skoumal, whom he describes as follows: 'Adam Skoumal is an innovative and original composer, but I dare say he still remains somewhat under the radar of listeners.' Jan Čmejla dedicated a significant portion of the album to this contemporary Czech composer, starting with the trilogy The Jester, The Alchemist, and The Juggler. He refers to Skoumal as the 'Chopin of the 21st century' thanks to his Berceuse. Čmejla interpreted two lullabies on the album—one by A. Skoumal and the other by F. Chopin. The album comes full circle with Rachmaninoff’s virtuosic Variations on a Theme of Chopin."
